Claude Emerson Welch, 1906-1996, AB, 1927, Doane College; AM, 1928, Unviersity of Missouri; MD, 1932, Harvard Medical School, was named Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School in 1937, and became Clinical Professor of Surgery in 1964. He joined the surgery staff at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1937, where he served as Chief of the Tumor Clinic from 1957 to 1966. Edwin Ewart Aubrey was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1896. He came to the United States in 1913 and became a naturalized citizen in 1918. He served with the U.S. Ambulance Service in France and Italy during World War I. Aubrey earned his Bachelor of Philosophy degree from Bucknell University in 1919 and his M.A. (1921), Bachelor of Divinity (1922), and Ph.D. (1926) all from the University of Chicago.
